Opening Soon - Coffee Shop, Library...
Can
you say Java? Apparently Starbucks isn't planning to call
Urbana home but another national chain,
The Daily Grind
has signed a lease with Kimco Realty and is scheduled to open
late fall. The Daily Grind is something of a cross between
Starbucks and Panera Bread.
In other news,
word comes that the Urbana branch of the Frederick County
Library will be opening sometime in November. An exact
date has not yet been set.

RadioVOU Becomes 88.7-JOHNfm
Urbana's
own radio station, RadioVOU has renamed itself JOHNfm. The
station plays "classic hits" from the 70's to today with a
special emphasis on 80's Rock. JOHNfm also features local
weather at :45 after every hour and USA Radio Network News
weekdays from 6-10am at the top of the hour. Sunday
nights, the station runs 80's Meltdown from 7-9pm - a retro
countdown show that showcases the best of 80's music.
JOHNfm is operated within the
FCC's
Part 15 Guidelines - which allow for non licensed operation
of AM and FM transmitters within a range of maximum effective
radiated power. What that means, is that you'll likely be
able to tune in while in the Villages, but not much beyond the
borders of the community. However, you can tune in anytime
on the Internet at
